TPI brings new releases to MIPCOM 2011 & and a chance to win an IPad 2...Long-time factual producer and distributor TPI returns to MIPCOM (Stand R36.04) with a slate of many new offerings including "Pablo's Hippos," "Libya: The Path to Freedom," "Liberia '77" and "Cart Man's Great Adventure."
“Pablo’s Hippos” – HD – 1 x 60 minutes (and 1 x 80 minute version) - This new film is a unique look at the life and times of notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar, and in particular, the private zoo he created at his country home in the Colombian jungle. Even today, nearly two decades after Escobar's death, his imported hippos remain in the news. As the most powerful beast in Escobar’s private zoo this film is a story of unthinkable riches, unabated sex, political intrigue, death, destruction, corruption, treachery and the ultimate legacy of a life dedicated to crime – and a hippo epidemic that nobody can stop.
"Libya: The Path to Freedom” (HD - 1x 52 minutes) - New special looks at how ordinary people in Libya came together to launch a revolution. Produced by Cairo-based Zad Productions, the film is a fascinating insight into the human side of this uprising against a longstanding dictatorial regime. Complete with exclusive behind the scenes footage, “The Path to Freedom” is a unique look at the Libyan Revolution.
"Cart Man’s Great Adventure” (HD, 1 x 52 minutes and expanded 2 x 52 minute version) - A joint venture between TPI and Japan's TV Tokyo, this new adventure doc follows the amazing journey of Japan's Tadashi Nagase who set himself the goal of walking around the planet pulling an unbelievably heavy 200 kg cart. From the sweltering Amazon to the frigid Andes mountains, we follow Nagase as he crisscrosses the South American continent…
