This extreme sports special discovers what B.A.S.E. jumping is all about and looks at the fearless people who engage in this terrifying but thrilling activity. BASE is an acronym for Building, Antennae, Span, Earth, and thus represents the fixed-objects from which BASE jumps are made...of course with the assistance of a parachute. This special film travels around the world and offers an exciting look at the sport during a special B.A.S.E. event, the annual Bridge Day Festival...the largest extreme sports festival in the world. Held in the USA, the event draws hundreds of jumpers from around the globe and hundreds of thousands of awestruck spectators for 6 hours of heart-pounding leaps off the edge of the New River Gorge Bridge. Meet the athletes who participate in B.A.S.E. jumping, including the world's only paraplegic jumper.
