CART MAN'S GREAT ADVENTURE - 1 x 52 or 2 x 52 minutes
Synopsis:
The world at his feet…one agonizing step at a time!
Join us as we follow Japan’s Tadashi Nagase on his quest to circumnavigate the globe the hard way … on foot while pulling his 200 kg wooden cart of provisions behind him …always punishing but never dull.
The allure of faraway places takes him to South America for an amazing adventure in the Amazon and the Andes Mountains. The Amazon River, the world’s longest, runs through Jaguar infested jungles, disease carrying mosquitoes, flesh-eating piranha and temperatures hovering at 50 C.
Seeking a change of scenery, he and his cart go from the sweltering Amazon to the burning sands of the Atacama Desert on the way to the bone-chilling cold of the Andes mountain range where an unprotected man can die in minutes.
Nagase returns to the Amazon because “there was a part of the Amazon River I did not walk through.” It’s this attitude, this tenacity, that drives Nagase and earned him Japan’s Naomi Uemura Adventure Award given to adventurous individuals.
When asked ‘why?’, Nagase responds simply that he has three goals “to see scenes I’ve never seen before … people I’ve never met before … and I want to meet a side of myself I’ve never met before.” After 30 years and 43,000 kilometers of amazing encounters with dangerous animals, unique cultures and seemingly impossible obstacles, he has met those goals.
“Cart Man” is high human drama from Nagase’s first primal scream that kick-starts him each morning to his collapsing into a dreamless sleep at night … and the camera records every punishing step.
