Filmmaker Emilio Belmonte journeys to the Amazon jungle to discover a special boat-hospital on the Tapajos River. Called "Abare", this medical boat services the 14,000 people who live in 72 isolated communities in the jungle. Excluded from and unable to attain the health care, these people rely solely on the Abare for their medical needs. A team of up to ten doctors and nurses work together on the Abare conducting basic medical and dental procedures, tests and minor surgeries. They visit these communities nine to eleven times per year.
